Fall Time in Dallas: fun activities in the city for Fall 2020
Updated: Oct 6
Cool weather has finally reached Dallas! And with it comes a whole new list of activities to enjoy with the cooler weather. Fall is my favorite time of year because there are so many fun things to do around the city, so much so, that we needed a list! So here it goes...
Dallas Farmers Market
Let’s kick off this list with a classic! The Dallas Farmers Market is where it’s at during fall time. The weather is cool so this is a great place to walk around and support the local vendors. But also because Pumpkins! Dallas Farmers Market goes pumpkin crazy during October. At anytime, even on weekdays, you can go and pick out the perfect pumpkin to take home and you’ll be supporting our local farmers as well. Plus their display is perfect for picture or two! Can’t beat that.
Rooftop Cinema in Uptown
Now this one is in particular to 2020. With the rise of COVID, the drive-in theater had a major comeback! So much so that temporary theaters were popping up around the US. And Rooftop Cinema is one of them! For the month of October they will be showing spooky movies to get in the Halloween spirit. You can buy tickets in advance on their website, pull up your car, and enjoy a socially distant movie. They show old classics and some newer movies if that’s not your thing. It’s about 40$ a car for as many people you can load up. You can bring your snacks but there is a food truck on site as well. This is a fun fall activity with friends, dates, or family and may only be available for 2020!
Dallas Arboretum in East Dallas
Now this is a fall tradition every Dallasite should do while in Dallas at least once! Every year our arboretum goes full pumpkin crazy with their acclaimed Fall show and their pumpkin village. This year there are over 90 THOUSAND pumpkins, gourds, and squashes all around the park and pumpkin village is an entire little town made of them. It’s an incredible display of creativity and there are even pumpkins to purchase here. But if you’re looking for those insane, fall loving photos, this is the place! Tickets are 17$ for adults and 12$ for children and tickets must be purchased in advance. This is a great fall activity for the whole family or a cute date with bae.
Klyde Warren Park in Downtown
Klyde Warren Park is particularly beautiful during fall time! The weather makes this a great place to sit outside and enjoy fresh air. Plus this is a good place for lunch and to enjoy some of the local food trucks. The park also offers many activities such as yoga on the lawn and even has pop up movies of their own. This is the perfect place to take a break from work or even have a day date. And in the evening, there are many highly rated restaurants that surround the park and on weekends you can hop across the street to enjoy the Dallas Museum Art. This is a great central hub and enjoyable act for all!
Ruibals in Dallas Farmers Market
This is another gem of a spot during fall time in Dallas! It sits just outside Dallas Farmers Market and has cute picture potential galore. They are a garden store but the holidays are not lost on them! They offer Christmas trees in the winter, and of course pumpkins during October and even have cute places for photo ops. If you’re looking for the biggest possible pumpkins to take home for display, this would be the spot! And not only do they have all of this but their shop also looks over the Dallas city skyline. It just doesn’t get more fall time in Dallas then here!
Emporium Pies In Bishop Arts
This is a great place to enjoy all the flavors of Fall. Emporium Pies is an amazing local pie shop that during the month of October releases all their fall flavors. So think fresh baked apple and pumpkin pies with a big scoop of ice cream! It’s truly something to fall in love with. And best part is you can even take a whole pie home with you as well. They have locations in Deep Ellum and McKinney as well but the Bishop Arts remains my favorite cause it sits in a cute, blue house and of course is picture worthy!
There are plenty more things to do in Dallas during fall time, but these are some of the big ones you just can’t miss! You just haven’t lived like a Dallasite during fall if you haven’t tried some of these things.
